Strobe lights have many different types of uses in the modern world. They can be used to increase the light and visibility of outdoor work. Another more common and recognizable use is in bars and nightclubs and of course we have all seen them while stuck in traffic at night due to roadworks.

Then of course there is the kind used by emergency and police cars vehicles. These roof mounted type of lights are designed to make the emergency vehicle highly visible so that we can see them even if they are behind us as the high intensity flash will even catch our attention in the rear view mirrors even if we are not looking directly at them.
They actually produce flashes similar to those used in the photographic industry and are normally lights xenon flash. These lamps produce extremely bright flashes for a very short time. This is achieved by lighting the xenon gas inside the lamp, which produces brilliant shine and when it is done repeatedly over a short period we get the familiar font strobe effect.
